Unsustainable Borders: Globalization in a Climate-Disrupted World

 Climate change and the responses to it reveal starkly different assumptions about borders, security ethical communities for whom politicians activists speak. Starting with contrasting perspectives of international activist Greta Thunberg United States President Donald Trump on climate this essay highlights diverse political implicit in debates contemporary globalization. Rapidly rising greenhouse gas emissions increasingly severe impacts accelerating extinctions are new context scholarly work Anthropocene. Incorporating insights from earth system sciences emerging planetary politics suggests a novel contextualization social science which now needs take non-stationarity mobility as appropriate investigating transformations. The challenge scientists borders scholars is think through how link politics, ethics bordering practices ways that facilitate sustainability, while taking seriously urgency dealing rapidly changing material globalization has wrought.
